What to Write a Blog Post About: Tips for Choosing Topics That Attract Readers and Boost Rankings

Before you start writing a blog post, the first step is deciding what to write about. Easier said than done, right? While I can’t magically cure writer's block, I can help you pick the right keywords and topics to write about. The easiest way to identify what to write about is to think about the questions your clients or customers ask. If you find yourself answering the same question over and over, consider writing a blog post on it. Not only can you send people to your website for answers, but you’ll also be building traffic and boosting your search rankings over time.

But what if no one’s ever asked you a question? (Sounds nice, doesn’t it?) In that case, here are a few other methods for identifying blog post topics. Each of these ideas is worth exploring, and I’ll go into more detail on each of them in separate blog posts.

1. Use AnswerThePublic

AnswerThePublic is a powerful tool where you can input your keywords and instantly see what questions people are asking related to those keywords. This can give you a treasure trove of topic ideas.

2. Try Google Keyword Planner

Google Keyword Planner, provided directly by Google, is another excellent resource. Enter your website or target keywords, and it will generate a list of related keywords and phrases that Google associates with your content. These insights can guide you to relevant topics that align with what people are searching for.

3. Look at “People Also Ask” in Google Searches

Another simple but effective trick is to search your keywords on Google and scroll down to the "People also ask" section. You may need to go to the second page, but this area can reveal popular questions and topics people are actively searching for.

4. Explore Google Trends

Google Trends is ideal for identifying when to post certain blogs, but it can also inspire content ideas by showing what topics are currently trending. Stay ahead of the curve by using this tool to spot emerging topics.

At the End of the Day

There are many ways to come up with engaging blog post ideas, whether it’s through questions clients ask or your own curiosity. You want to learn more about something? Search for it, learn, and share your insights. Don’t overthink it; sometimes, the best topics are right in front of you!
